Some random facts about me, specifically relating to food and my kitchen.
1. There is always leftover Chinese food in my fridge. If there is not, that means it's time to order Chinese food. Essentially, I can buy $30 worth of the stuff and eat for a week. It's not ideal, but it's an addiction.
2. I need a Kitchen Aid stand up mixer in my life. I don't currently have one, and it means that I just have an ongoing list of things I want to make but I'm too lazy to stir myself. Sorry baking projects, you'll have to wait.
3. I am perpetually on the lookout for perfect things for my future kitchen. I couldn't care less what the rest of my house looks like, but I need double ovens, plenty of counter space, and a functional dishwasher to be truly happy.
4. Out of sight, out of mind actually works for me, so well in fact that most of the time I forget about half the food I buy. I'm known for completely losing track of fruits and vegetables until they start to sprout or melt.
5. I cannot finish a cup of coffee before it gets cold. This might be a personal problem, or perhaps the fact the house is about 65 degrees, and that's practically iced coffee - not desirable in a New York State winter.
6. I own cupcake tins and cookie sheets, enough sugar and flour to ration a small army, sprinkles in a variety of colors, at least four containers of ground cinnamon, and brown sugar in three different colors, but I can never find something to make for dinner.
7. I pop Disney mints like an addict. The wintergreen are my favorite, but the cinnamon are pretty delicious as well. Every time I buy them, the sales people look at me like I have twelve heads. They only sell them in the Disney Parks. I try to buy them in different stores each time, so they look really popular.
8. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, and the most important. My whole day is off if I don't get my necessary supply of sweetened carbs first thing.
9. I only cook vegetarian or pre-cooked meat, which is fairly useless. I just can't stand raw poultry, and in general I actually don't eat much meat anyway. If I had to cook for myself all the time, I'd probably be a complete vegetarian.
10. I love seltzer water. It doesn't taste funny. I'm not a 35-year-old woman from Staten Island. Just get over it; it's delicious.
11. If it's not beef (makes me sick to my stomach) or mushrooms (I hate the texture) I'll pretty much try any new food once. I've discovered some strange favorites this way.
