Friday Five Things: 10/04/13

Welcome back to Friday Five Things, and my first edition brought to you from the great state of Arizona. You already know a lot about me moving across the country, so I'll try not to talk too much about the actual moving process or decorating, since there will be plenty of posts dedicated to those topics.

Friday Five Things [08/16/13]

1. Well, I got offered a job and I'm moving to Arizona! It's going to be quite a change for this northeastern girl, but hey, it could be exciting and fun. It's definitely going to be an adventure, right? Moving will be better than being stuck subletting and crashing on couches while looking for work.

Friday Five Things [08/02/13]

1. Well, I'm back from my two week adventure. Isn't adventure a much more fun word than vacation? I think so. Anyway, I went to California for B's wedding, as I've been mentioning a lot recently. We were in San Francisco and then jetted down to Anaheim. M&W hit up San Diego during Comic Con, but I headed back east where I explored Washington DC with The Boy, and then we drove back to upstate New York. Good times all around. I hope you've been enjoying the posts from these trips so far and there's more to come!

Friday Five Things [07/12/13]

My Fourth of July look from last week!

1. By the time you read this, I'll be in San Francisco. The whole family will be here by tonight because it's time for B's wedding this weekend! The actual wedding is on Sunday afternoon, but there's family events all weekend and then a hop down to Disneyland for some of us. After California, I might be flying back to the east coast but heading to DC with the Boy instead of going straight home.

Outtake from an upcoming post on deviled eggs!
2. I've rediscovered SwagBucks, which is an easy way to earn points for gift cards by doing stuff you do everyday - like searching the internet! I'm working toward getting some money in PayPal, and I'm really close to my goal. If you need a little extra cash, you should sign up here, and I'll get referral points!

3. I've been working on my novel, and I hope you've enjoyed what I've posted so far. If you haven't read it yet, be sure to click on the Camp NaNoWriMo tab above where you can read some of what I have written. Please leave comments and criticisms!

4. Most of this week has been all about prepping for being out of town next week. That means laundry, packing, cleaning out the fridge, cleaning up my room a little bit, and making sure all my travel plans are in order. It also means writing lots of extra blog posts to post throughout the week. So don't worry, just because I'm gone doesn't mean there's no posts - there might just not be as many!

5. The job market still looks dismal for me. Even with local businesses when I ask if they're hiring, they just say to apply online and then I never hear a word. How does anyone get a job anywhere? As for a career job, I'm working on it - lots of cover letters every single day and usually no response at all, even if I follow up! It's just disheartening.

Friday Five Things [07/05/13]

1. For the next two Fridays, I'll be in California! That's right, it's coming up on time for B's wedding and the whole family is packing up for our big west coast extravaganza vacation. A little bit of hanging out in San Francisco for a few days, including a farmers' market and dim sum. Then the wedding is Sunday. Then Monday through the following Friday I'll be in Disneyland with mom, dad, M and W, before taking the red eye back that night. One week in California - should be an adventure, right?

Friday Five Things [06/28/13]

Pretty much the summary of the weather up here.
1. Wait, hold on. Is June already almost over? Wow! I hope the rest of this summer goes by that fast. Summer's not exactly my favorite seasons, but I've been keeping myself super busy with blogging and online classes and obviously adventures. There are more adventures to come: I'm going to California, down to DC, and maybe I'll finally learn to drive. (Yeah, yeah, I know).

Friday Five Things [06/21/13]

1. It's the First Day of Summer! Happy summer guys! That means it's also National Wear Your Lilly Day, so of course I am. I'm wearing my pink, lace Lilly Pulitzer skirt with a grey tank top and a white and pink polka dot (with hidden Mickeys!) scarf. My toenails are hot pink to match. Here's a picture of me wearing a similar outfit on a cruise ship this past spring.

Friday Five Things [06/14/13]

Adorable wine bottle holders! I'll have to try making these.
1. So my bedroom has been infested. Err, that's probably a hyperbole a little bit, but I can't stay there all the same. I'd been getting bug bites for a few days (don't worry, no pictures) and then we recently found a bed bug! Gross! So I'm seeking refuge at The Boy's house until everything is figured out. Hopefully we don't drive each other crazy.

Friday Five Things [06/07/13 - On Saturday]

1. I write a lot about food in the summer, because that's when I do most of my cooking. It's strange, because you'd think I'd rather cook in the winter when turning on the heating elements will keep the house warm. However, in the winter, I like to hibernate. I like to order in. I like to eat out and be lazy. In the summer, I'm so much more awake and motivated to cook, so food posts galore! Let me know what you want to see: desserts, salads, etc.

Friday Five Things [05/10/13]

My nails this week: Wet N Wild Ebony Hates Chris and an accent in Revlon Radiant and Sally Hanson In The Spotlight
1. A year ago, I was finished with my undergraduate studies at college. I didn't walk in my graduation, so I don't have that huge moment, but walking out of my last class on May 16, 2012 is pretty much that victory for me. I cannot believe it's been a year, and really what a wild year it has been. I might think of doing a year in review or perhaps starting up monthly reviews for this blog. Hmm...

Friday Five Things [04/12/13]

Pic of the Week: Miniature Baseball Stadium
1. I moved out of the basement of my apartment (where I lived with the guy I used to date) and into my own room upstairs. I've loved decorating my new space to really make it all my own - by covering the walls in paint chip art, old pictures and postcards, and pages ripped out of magazines. I hung up some of my scarves as more wall art and window treatments. It's amazing how a few sentimental items can turn any room into a haven.

Friday Five Things [04/05/13]

My nails this week. They look like space!
1. I'm going to a minor league baseball game tomorrow! I'm not that into baseball, but I'm going with someone who is super passionate about it, and I love seeing people in their element. Learning something new from someone who is so enthused about it is so much more satisfying than learning from a book. And someone so captivated with a topic makes you want to learn. Also, he's just a really good, nice guy.

Friday Five Things [03/29/13]

1. There are so many posts I want to make that I don't have pictures for. I sort of wish I carried my camera around and used it more. However, I also don't want to be that person who is always worried about taking pictures and less about living in the moment. It's all about finding that balance, which seems to be a pretty heavy theme in my life lately.

Friday Five Things [03/22/13]

Time for Friday Five Things! Here's what's been on my mind this week, or just today. Just little things that either I don't have enough to say for a full post, or perhaps will inspire a longer post later.

Snow on the ground, still!
1. Well, it's technically spring. However, the weather would not let you believe it for a second. Wednesday it was snowing. Thursday was a gorgeous high of 29, and today it's forecasted to be snow showers again. Hopefully the predictions are right, and it starts to get a little warmer over the weekend. We need some sunshine and outdoorsy weather up here!

Friday Five Things [03/15/13]

I decided I'm going to post about five things I've been thinking about, dealing with, or whatever each Friday. Just little things on my mind, so let's get started.

Graffiti on my old college's campus is pretty profound.
