I just got back from B's Bachelorette party in Disney World!
Part of the festivities involved getting lunch at one of my (and A's) absolute favorite restaurants on property: The Garden View Tearoom at the Grand Floridian resort.
We really just love eating here, and we have so many strange traditions and regular things that we do. They have made a few changes over the years, but we still have fun!
We always order the Grand Tea (we used to get another one, because the grand includes champagne, but now we're all of age!) and it consists of three courses.
The first course is a series of five tea sandwiches. These are little sandwich quarters with the crust cut off, and they are delicious. However, we never order them quite right. The sandwiches include egg salad, curry chicken salad, salmon, cucumber and watercress, and pear and Gorgonzola. I don't eat the salmon or the pear, so I get extra egg and chicken. A prefers the cucumber over all others. M has to get them all on gluten free bread. We are so complicated!
The next course is a little easier. It includes one scone and one jam tart per person. These are served with strawberry preserves, lemon curd, and clotted cream. Oh my gosh - clotted cream! They give you a dollop, but we always need extra because it's so delicious! Right after Sandy they couldn't get any shipped to them and it was awful, really.
The last course is dessert, which is usually strawberries and cream for me and A. Because of her gluten allergy, M usually just gets something cool made by the resort pastry chefs. This time, however, I got pastries instead so I had a chocolate covered strawberry and an eclair.
Throughout all of this, we each have our own personal pot of tea and a glass of champagne garnished with a strawberry. Does it sound heavenly? Because it is. And it's the perfect appetizer for drinking around the World Showcase at Epcot!
